About us
We are an 11-member team of physicians at the Department of Geriatrics. Almost all of us have worked at the clinic continuously since completing our studies, which has allowed us to build a stable team with long-term experience in acute geriatrics.
We share the conviction that even in difficult times and at hard moments in life, elderly patients deserve professional care in dignified conditions.
Our workplace
The 1st Department of Geriatrics of the Medical Faculty of Comenius University and the University Hospital Bratislava, located at Limbová 5 – Kramáre, provides care for acutely ill elderly patients.
It has 21 beds, 3 of which are in the intensive care unit (ICU). In addition, it runs an admissions clinic and provides specialised diagnostic examinations (e.g. echocardiography, 24-hour Holter ECG monitoring).
These activities are delivered by an experienced team of healthcare professionals — doctors, nurses, assistants and orderlies.
As a university workplace, the clinic also teaches medical students in internal propaedeutics, internal medicine and geriatrics, provides doctoral and specialist training for physicians, carries out scientific research and publishes.
Our goals
- Improving the quality of the environment and patient comfort (e.g. air-conditioning for rooms, Wi-Fi access)
- Medical technical equipment (e.g. purchasing a portable ultrasound and a vein finder)
- Nursing materials and aids (e.g. more anti-decubitus mattresses, specialised chairs, pressure-relief aids)
